ALTINKUM PROPERTY FINDER
About Altinkum

Many of you may be confused when reading about Altinkum as many times it seems to be referred to as Didim, let me explain.  Altinkum actually means “golden sands” referring to the golden beaches that surround the resort.  Altinkum in fact makes up only ¼ of Didim and this is the main tourist area where you can find the bars, restaurants and harbour.

Altinkum is stunning - surrounded by blue, blue water and never ending coastlines, the beaches are blue flag which means that its safe to swim and comforting to parents with young kids, the beaches are cleaned daily and the atmosphere in the summer is as high as the temperatures.

There are so many bars and restaurants to choose from, offering an array of Turkish Delights but also international food for those craving more familiar tastes, the music in the bars ranges from traditional Turkish folk to techno and everything else in between!

For the younger crowd (or maybe just the young at heart) there are a large selection of discos that are open year round and a large open air dance club featuring different DJ’s - open from May to September (Medusa).

For those of you that are more culturally minded the Temple of Apollo is fascinating (do you know that is the architectural twin of the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world) step back in time and let your imagination flow.

For the more adventurous then how about horse riding? Altinkum has its very own horse riding ranch, situated just beyond the 3rd beach, you can organize to go on a safari - they will take you along some beautiful paths that all eventually lead to the beach, the perfect way to cool down after a hard days work ;-)

Or why not go diving? There is a fantastic diving center called Okenos that know the best diving spots in the area, they also offer lessons if you are a beginner, they are located close to Dolphin Square near the Chill out bar.

Altinkum is about to expand as the New Marina takes shape, located about 2 kms from the main resort this marina it is set to re-shape Altinkum and the town will stretch out to meet it, its going to be the biggest marina in Turkey and will have a vast selection of restaurants and bars, shopping center, an Olympic size swimming pool and of course plenty of space for all the beautiful yachts and boats. We are all really excited about it over here and can’t wait to show it off!

Altinkum is also home now to a huge community of ex-pats mainly British and Irish and more recently the Dutch, there are also a smattering of German, Belgium and Russian folk, but more to the point Altinkum is hugely popular with the Turks themselves so it remains more Turkish than anything else which is the reason why we choose to settle here.

Talking about the Turks no race could be more welcoming and those of us that live here are always invited to join in meetings with them and the Mayor and have our say about what we would like the town to become (without taking over - we don’t want it to be like home that’s the reason we moved in the first place!).

I can’t say enough good things about Altinkum, its wonderful, its sunny, its friendly, we are never lonely, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is wonderfully alive!  What more could you ask for? Pack your bags and see you here!
